This course will equip students with the key statistical tools required to understand modern empirical research in economics and business-related disciplines, as well as to do research themselves. The students will learn about the notions statistical inference, estimation, regression analysis, causality, and analysis of experimental data, as well as their applications in empirical research. The emphasis in this course is put on application of statistics to analyzing data from real firms to advice corporate policy making. An introduction to Stata, a data analysis software package, will be given as well. Methodological insights from this course will be useful in many other courses.
