Heart Mirror: Exploring heartbeat visualizations on self-avatars
Speaker:
Prof. Tiare Feuchtner, CASCB / Uni Konstanz
Abstract:
In ISMiR*, we explore the application of physiological signals on user representations in mixed reality, to study human interoception and synchronization effects, and enhance communication. In this seminar talk, we will present our experimental virtual reality setup involving fully articulated customized avatars and a processing and rendering pipeline for heartbeat data. We propose a variety of heartbeat visualizations, which are evaluated in a user study to investigate their pragmatic and hedonic qualities.
(*The cluster project´s title ISMiR stands for: „the influence of interoceptive signalling on self-other perception, sensorimotor and physiological synchrony, and behaviour in social interactions within mixed reality spaces“).
