Israel, Germany, Worldwide: Jew Hatred as a Driving Force of Extremism and Violence
The Hamas massacre of 1.200 innocent women, men and children in Israel on October 7, 2023 was more than a large scale terror attack. It was the manifestation of hatred that is so extreme that it leads to the complete dehumanization of its victims. October 7 is not the first example of how antisemitism serves as the driving force in many extremist ideologies. How does antisemitic extremism work? How does it lead to violence? And what can we do about it?
Felix Klein is a German jurist and diplomat. He has been the Federal Government Commissioner for Jewish Life in Germany and the Fight against Anti-Semitism since 2018. Prior to his current position, he served as Special Representative of the Federal Foreign Office for Relations with Jewish Organizations, Issues Relating to Antisemitism, International Sinti and Roma Affairs, and Holocaust Remembrance at the Federal Foreign Office.
