Inhalt

The lecture introduces students to the main periods and developments of American literary and cultural history, as well as to key concepts in the academic study of these developments. It combines close readings of representative texts with relevant contextual information. The lecture puts particular emphasis on the transnational dimensions of American literature and culture.
Parts of the course (or the entire course if possible) will take place on campus. The campus sessions will not be accessible online. The final exam will also take place on campus.
