Transfer projects in teaching co-operate with partners outside the university - civil society institutions, companies, cultural institutions or NGOs. Such projects are both attractive and challenging. For lecturers, they are a welcome change from everyday teaching and provide a framework for examining and expanding their own questions, topics and methods. For students, it is about learning how to translate knowledge acquired at university into non-university settings and make it available outside the university. For both teachers and students, transfer teaching projects can also lead to new research questions. External partners benefit from otherwise scarcely available manpower and the fresh ideas of creative students.
The many positive effects of teaching transfer are offset by high demands and challenges: such projects require money, energy, time and a high degree of openness on the part of all those involved, including their own understanding of their role.
